Dermal Fillers
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable substances that restore lost volume, smooth folds and hollows, and reshape facial contours. As we age, the face loses fat, bone density, and collagen—creating sunken areas, flattened cheeks, deeper folds, and thinning lips. Fillers address these changes by replenishing volume directly where it's needed.
In the hands of an experienced injector like Dr. Kieu, fillers can produce results that look completely natural—subtly lifting, refreshing, and restoring without adding bulk or an artificial appearance.
What Fillers Can Address
- Cheek volume and lift — restoring midface fullness and projection
- Nasolabial folds — softening the lines from nose to mouth corners
- Marionette lines — lines from the mouth corners downward
- Under-eye hollows (tear trough) — reducing dark circles and hollowing beneath the eyes
- Lip augmentation — adding volume, definition, and shape to the lips
- Jawline definition — sharpening and projecting the jaw
- Chin augmentation — improving chin projection and profile balance
- Temple hollowing — restoring volume loss at the temples
- Hand rejuvenation — restoring fullness to aging hands
- Nose reshaping (non-surgical rhinoplasty) — see our dedicated page
Types of Fillers Dr. Kieu Uses
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers
The most versatile and reversible filler category. Brands include Juvederm, Restylane, and RHA. HA fillers attract water and integrate naturally with tissue. Fully reversible with hyaluronidase if needed.
Radiesse (Calcium Hydroxyapatite)
A thicker filler that also stimulates collagen production. Ideal for deep volume restoration in cheeks, jawline, and hands. Longer-lasting than most HA fillers.
Sculptra (Poly-L-Lactic Acid)
A bio-stimulator rather than a true filler—Sculptra gradually stimulates your own collagen over 3–6 months for subtle, natural-looking volume restoration. Results last up to 2 years.
Dr. Kieu's Approach to Filler
Dr. Kieu approaches filler with a whole-face perspective rather than treating isolated areas in isolation. She evaluates facial structure, proportions, bone support, and skin quality to determine where volume restoration will have the most harmonious effect. Her technique prioritizes conservative placement and layering—it's always easier to add than to remove.
She uses a combination of needles and cannulas depending on the area, and applies topical numbing cream to maximize comfort throughout the treatment.
Recovery and Results
Results are immediate, though some swelling and bruising in the first 1–3 days is common. Final results settle within 2 weeks. Depending on the product and area treated, results typically last 6–18 months, with Sculptra and Bellafill lasting longer.
