What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrated serum derived from your own blood that harnesses the healing and regenerative power of growth factors. Platelets are the body's first responders to injury — they release proteins that accelerate tissue repair, stimulate cell turnover, and trigger new growth. PRP amplifies this natural process by concentrating platelets to several times their normal level and delivering them precisely where regeneration is needed.

Because PRP is made entirely from your own blood, it carries no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. It is one of the most biocompatible treatments available.

PRP for Hair Restoration

Hair loss affects millions of men and women, and PRP has become one of the most effective non-surgical treatments available for androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) and other forms of hair thinning. When injected into the scalp, the concentrated growth factors stimulate dormant hair follicles, extend the active growth phase of the hair cycle, and improve the overall health and density of existing hair.

PRP for hair is most effective when started early — before follicles are permanently lost. It can also be used in combination with surgical hair restoration (FUE, FUT, or ARTAS) to improve graft survival and accelerate results.

PRP for Facial Rejuvenation

When applied topically after microneedling — often called the "vampire facial" — PRP penetrates deeply into the skin through the microchannels created by the needles. The growth factors stimulate collagen and elastin production, improve skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines, and give the skin a brighter, more hydrated quality. Dr. Kieu can also inject PRP directly into areas of facial volume loss or chronic skin dullness for more targeted results.

Hair Restoration PRP

Targets thinning scalp areas. Stimulates dormant follicles, thickens existing hair, and slows progressive hair loss. Often combined with surgical hair restoration.

Facial Rejuvenation PRP

Combined with microneedling for texture, tone, and radiance improvement. Can also be injected for volume, fine lines, or under-eye improvement.

The Treatment Process

  1. Blood draw — A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, just like a routine lab test.
  2. Centrifugation — The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components.
  3. Application — Dr. Kieu injects the PRP directly into the target areas (scalp or face), or applies it topically following microneedling. Topical numbing cream is applied in advance for comfort.

The entire appointment takes approximately 45–60 minutes. There is no downtime — you can return to normal activities the same day.

Treatment Protocol

For optimal results, most patients complete an initial series of 3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every 3–4 months. Hair restoration results become visible within 3–6 months as the growth cycle responds and new hair emerges.

Enhancing PRP results: Dr. Kieu may recommend combining PRP with other treatments for superior outcomes — such as pairing scalp PRP with topical minoxidil for hair loss, or combining facial PRP with laser or microneedling for more comprehensive skin rejuvenation.
